Calling all creative writers!

We all know there are many creative people in the North West but it’s creative writers and potential creative writers we’re looking for. The Lyceum Theatre is Oldham’s premier society and we are running our second competition for one-act playwrights, with cash prizes and public performances of the winning plays. The first time we staged this competition was to start the celebrations for our 90th year as a Society and to celebrate our 80 years in the Basement Theatre and it was a tremendous success with over 30 scripts and sell-out performances and critical acclaim for the winners as part of Greater Manchester Fringe Festival.

PlotFest20 is an anonymous competition, open to anyone over 18 years of age. The judges are all experienced actors and directors in the Oldham area. They will read each play submitted and decide on the three best one-act plays for performance on the Lyceum stage in the summer of 2020. The author of their first choice will be awarded a cash prize of £250, the second £125 and the third choice £75. All three plays will be performed for two nights in the Lyceum Theatre on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 July, before a paying audience.

One-act plays submitted should not have been performed in public before, should be no longer than 30 minutes and should have between 2 and 5 characters. The closing date for scripts is 31 December, 2019, so please . . . .
