with afternoon tea
Sunday 12 July 2026 2.30pm
How well do you know your town? Collect your quiz sheet, take a leisurely walk, solve the clues and return to our Bar for afternoon tea and prize-giving.
We caught up with Ian Orry, Lyceum's Chair. who with Maureen, Neil and Craig, made up a Guineapig Team' to see how it will work on the day.
"How do you know that a walking Treasure Hunt will work? Is it easy enough? Not too hard? Do you have to be an expert on the area?
"Well, last week, in spite of cold, showery weather, our eager 'Guineapig Team', with baby and dog, set off around Oldham with the Treasure Hunt sheet (and several umbrellas). The designer of the Treasure Hunt, Sue, monitored our progress and noted any glitches that needed correcting or clarifying. Our little team enjoyed a terrific hour of team and detective work with all our various skills put to the test from puzzle solving to following directions and lots of laughs. Thankfully warmed up with a coffee at the end, though the afternoon tea you'll be welcomed back with on the actual day, would have been a better reward!
"The real event will take place on Sunday 12th July, in much warmer weather (we hope) and will be topped off with a delicious afternoon tea in the theatre, and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed that having been a guineapig, I won't be allowed to do it again!"
With tickets only £12 each, this promises to be a great afternoon out.
